My husband and I had an exceptional experience working with Dick Wohlers Homes in 2022-23. We built a custom home in Chapin, SC that we designed. I have been a project manager of residential remodels for 8 years so I knew a lot about the building process. I knew I would want to be very hands on during the entire build. It was important to us to use a builder that had a lot of experience with custom homes. We interviewed numerous builders and felt that Dick was the best choice due to his extensive experience, his excellent reputation in the community, and how thorough and honest he was with us when discussing the build . We were able to drive by numerous custom homes in the area that he had built and walk through one that was in the build process. His builds had excellent craftsmanship throughout.
As all builds go, we had several hiccups along the way. Our architect had made some errors in our CAD plans and Dick was able to resolve everything that came up with ease (at least he made it seem that way to us). He was always calm handling the challenges/changes throughout the build. He was on the job site frequently (sometimes more than once a day) and was always available when we needed to discuss the project. He was very helpful in coming up with solutions when we were unsure of how to address difficult situations. It was obvious that Dick had a great rapport with all of the sub-contractors and they enjoyed working on his projects. We were very happy with the quality of the work and the professionalism of each of them. Dick was very transparent along the way. He worked hard to make sure we stayed on budget and kept the project moving along despite some unavoidable setbacks (our front door system and several windows were delayed). We were in our home 10 months after starting the project!
We could not be happier with our home! It was a wonderful experience and that has a lot to do with Dick. We really feel like choosing him as our builder was the best decision we made.
